Kim Kardashian filed for divorce yesterday from her husband Kris Humphries after only two months of marriage, According to TMZ, Humphries himself had no knowledge of this and found out at the same time the rest of us did. The couple got married on the 20th of August in a made for TV ceremony that many referred to as America's version of a royal wedding. (Can you believe the world we live in?)
The TV special, which aired last month on E!, showed the pair bickering and disagreeing on numerous occasions. Kim chose to keep her maiden name rather than take Humphries, she was uninterested in living in Minnesota, he seemed uncomfortable with the constant flock of paparazzi, and so on and so forth.
Now looking in retrospect at these disagreements that they had, it's safe to say that divorce was inevitable. On top of this, both seemed unsure that they should go through with the marriage due to their inability to compromise or agree on anything.
However, some people believe that the whole spectacle was simply a publicity stunt used to advance Kardashian's career and even Humphries as well. Given the short span of time that the relationship lasted, this speculation might not be entirely false.
Interestingly enough, if we go back in time to sister Khloe's wedding to NBA Laker Lamar Odom, people believed then that their marriage was based on false grounds and yet it seemed as if people really wanted to believe that Kim's was so pure. Looks like we may have gotten our sisters crossed seeing as Khloe and Lamar seem to still be in marital bliss.
Honestly, I can't say I'm too surprised. The fact that they couldn't agree on much and rushed into a wedding that they obviously weren't ready for speaks for itself. Maybe Kim was feeling like the odd one out because Khloe was the first to get married and Kourtney the first to have a baby. All she was left with was a "career".
Don't get me wrong, I enjoy the entertainment they provide. Nothing to watch on sunday? One of their many shows will be on E! sometime around 10pm. However spending over 10 million dollars on an extravagant wedding just to call it quits two months later seems ridiculous to me, although reports have stated that she made plenty more from the wedding than she spent on it.
Well, apparently Kris wasn't ready to let go and he plans to fight for his marriage. Think things will work out? Hmm, we'll find out soon enough!
