Beyonce has released the sixth video off of her album 4. The video, made for the song Party, has an old school 80's kind of vibe that reminds me of The Fresh Prince and Jazzy Jeff's video for "Summertime". Bright colors, wired rabbit headbands, and large gold jewelry really embody the "back in the day" vibe with the party scenes relative to Kid and Play's "House Party" movies.
Instead of Andre 3000 as the rapper in the video that we all would have expected he is replaced by J.Cole who drops a quick couple of bars that make a few references to "ladee dadee, we like to party". Cameo appearances are made by Beyonce's younger sister Solange who has recently taken up DJing and portray's that character in the video. Also, towards the end Kelly Rowland makes an appearance and does a little dance along side Beyonce as if things were "just like old times".
Overall I'd say I genuinely like the video. It goes with the theme of the song and the concept is sensible. Beyonce being one of the top female entertainers in the industry, I tend to have high expectations. In a fairly short time span, she has released about three videos one after another: Countdown, then Love On Top, and finally Party. I guess her pregnancy is making her feel the need to push out as many projects as she can before she's forced to lay low for a while.
With so much determination it's no wonder there are stories and pictures about her are all over the media, especially surrounding her pregnancy. One thing I will say is that all the speculations are ridiculous. I mean, think about it, if Beyonce were to lie about her pregnancy, the "Queen Bee" title that she currently holds in the music industry would completely disappear. There would be no coming back from that. It would be worse than the frenzy that surrounded the Chris Brown/Rihanna situation. There is no way she would ever be stupid enough to try such a stunt.
Anyway, i'll be waiting in anticipation for the next video. Hopefully it'll be either "I Was Here" or "I Care" cause those two are among my favorites from the album. At the rate she's been going, it should be out by next week.
